Swimming Lesson and Family Swim Resumption 28 April

We will resume our Club lessons on Saturday 28th April with Kim, in a limited capacity, Will and his son Oliver as our teaching staff.

Oliver will be leaving us in September for University but we will actively be looking for a third teacher over the summer.  Additionally we plan to run lessons over the half term in an attempt to catch up with some of the missed sessions and will confirm shortly when the lessons are scheduled to end for the summer break.

We would like to thank you for your support to the Club in allowing us to comply with the new regime the School has imposed on us. We are now a limited Company by Guarantee and have our own insurance in place. Our teachers have been DBS checked to the enhanced level and all have safeguarding in place. In addition our Chair Jill Thomas, is the Club’s safeguarding officer so if you have any concerns, please report them in the first instance to her via her email . All contact will be kept confidential.

Our Duty Officers have all completed their safeguarding for the family swim sessions and have all enhanced DBS checks in place.

Dear Club members and lesson parents

I am writing to give you advance notice of the strong likelihood that the Club’s session at Bromley High School pool will be cancelled on Saturday, 20th January. This applies both to lessons and our social swim session.

You will be informed by email as to the final decision by the end of Friday, 19th January.

We have been in negotiation with the school/Trust for a number of months over the terms on which we hire the pool. The committee has grave concerns about the unlimited liability placed on the committee members personally by the form of contract required by the school/Trust. We believe this to be unduly harsh and unacceptable and have obtained legal advice strongly supporting this view. We have now been given a final deadline to sign the contract by Thursday but are unwilling to do so in the form proposed by the school/trust.

For the time being, it seems the only way forward for the club is to suspend operations until some sort of resolution is reached. Consequently there is the possibility of sessions and lessons scheduled beyond Saturday 20th January being cancelled or suspended as well. We will email you prior to each session/lesson if any future dates are affected.

We will make suitable arrangements for a credit or refund to lesson parents when the situation becomes clearer. Likewise, appropriate arrangements for compensating Club members will be made once the outcome of the present situation is known. Please be assured that the Club is fully solvent and will have no difficulty in carrying out these arrangements.

I am sorry to have to send this email but the committee believes there is no alternative at the present time.

We will email again to confirm arrangements for Saturday 20th by the end of Friday. A similar process will be followed in respect of any future sessions/lessons that are affected.
